Some rumours told that they would redesigned brand pages, and a new photos section to archive photos by year and best of all the brand new ability to manage different facebook pages without having to log out. One source reported that an issue with customized tabs caused the problem. The tabs disappeared an hour before the site went down.

Zuckerberg didn't cover much new ground in this interview, but he gave his interesting impressions about "The Social Network," the recent movie about his life, the Harvard twins who sued him and his extensive T-shirt collection.

Oh, and then there was this gem of a question:

"Is the goal for you to conquer the whole internet? To own the internet?"

And Zuckerberg's non-answer answer:

"Well, think about it like this, people -- if they can use the product -- of any category, photos, groups, music, TV, anything, either by themselves or with their friends, I think most of the time, people want to do those things with their friends."

Interviewer Lesley Stahl: "So, is the answer yes?" (laughs)

Zuckerberg: "I think -- so, I mean, the answer ... is that we want to help other people build a lot of these products."

Never a natural communicator, Zuckerberg looked more comfortable than he did in his previous "60 Minutes" interview in 2008. Sunday's segment also referenced Zuckerberg's awkward onstage chat at the D8 conference in June, during which he appeared anxious and sweaty when asked about concerns over Facebook users' privacy.

Zuckerberg: "I can't tell you how many messages I've gotten from people who use Facebook writing in to say this movie was really inspiring to me. After seeing this movie, I want to start a company. Or I want to go into computer science, or I want to study math. And if the movie had that effect on people, then awesome, right? I mean, that's great."

On slacker-chic fashion

"In watching it, it's pretty interesting to see what parts they got right and what parts they got wrong. I think that they got every single T-shirt that they had the Mark Zuckerberg character wearing right. I think I actually own those T-shirts. And they got sandals right and all that."

On his love life in the movie

"There are hugely basic things that they got wrong, too. I mean, they -- they made it seem like my whole motivation for building Facebook was so I could get girls, right? And they completely left out the fact that my girlfriend, I've been dating since before I started Facebook, right?"

At Least 20% of Facebook Users Exposed to Malware in Their News Feeds

It's been less than a month since BitDefender launched its Facebook app Safego, offering a scan to Facebook users of the links posted to their profile. As the emphasis of much malware shifts from email to social networks, the app offered a preventative method, of sorts, to help cut down on malware's spread. Just how much malware is out there? Based on the scans that BitDefender has run so far, about one-fifth of Facebook users have some sort of infection in their news feeds.

MySpace announces Mashup with Facebook, letting users port their information

While the battle may have been won some time ago, MySpace seems to be calling "uncle" in its competition with Facebook.
On Thursday, MySpace unveiled what the company is calling a "Mashup with Facebook ." The mashup basically is a connection across the two sites that will enable users to port their likes and interests from their Facebook profiles and have that information populate the content on their MySpace pages. The feature is billed as allowing MySpace users to create a personalized stream of entertainment content.
The new feature begins rolling out worldwide today.

With these steps, MySpace is giving up on being a social network. While MySpace was an Internet pioneer, it was eclipsed by Facebook .


In mid-2009, online researcher ComScore reported that then-five-year-old Facebook attracted 70.278 million unique visitors in the U.S., just ahead of MySpace's total of 70.237 million. In April, MySpace had nearly 71 million unique visitors compared with Facebook's 67.481 million.
At the same time, Facebook had more than 307 million unique visitors worldwide, while MySpace attracted less than half of that total -- 123 million.


Facebook, the new kid on the block, had eclipsed MySpace both in the U.S. and globally.
And the space between them has widened. Recently, Facebook announced that it has more than 500 million global users . MySpace, in turn, has focused more on being a destination for users to get information on music and movies.


Today, during the press call, Mike Jones, CEO of MySpace, did not refer to the site as a social network. Instead, he called it "one of the largest entertainment experiences on the Web."
Ezra Gottheil, an analyst with Technology Business Research, said Thursdady's announcement is symbolic of MySpace's leaving the social networking space.


"This is a recognition of an old defeat," Gottheil said. "MySpace stopped being the place to find and connect to friends a long time ago. This is reinforcing its value as what it is, a publishing site. Facebook is not, and will not be, a publishing site. So this partnership helps define and distinguish the two, and makes it easier for users to be active members of both sites, using each on for what it does well."

Facebook to launch 'Gmail Killer' Titan today (Facebook mail)

California, Nov 15: World's favourite social networking website, Facebook may announce its e-mail service on Monday, Nov 15.

Media reported that the secret project, named as Project Titan, will offer @facebook.com email addresses for users. The reports also added that the Project Titan can be regarded as 'Gmail Killer.'

The special November event of Facebook is expected to held at Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco. The event will surface Project Titan, which will change Facebook's entire messaging system.

Social media blog Mashable reported that Facebook will launch the e-mail service as the site's current users are unable to send messages outside of Facebook, and the system can't handle simple things like attachments and forwarding.

After a massive salary hike and increase in bonus for the employees, let's wait for the new reaction of internet giant Google for the new gmail Killer.

The Social Networking Tools

The modern trends of social networking on the internet can easily be used as a tool for assessing the society as it exists today. The social networking tool serves the purpose of connecting peoples of the world. This is possible by just sitting in the comfort of your own home or office and using your computer to communicate to all corners of the world.

Now people use Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace are all the different types of popular network tools that are preferred by most users. They have the advantage of providing opportunities to locate even old friends, widening your communication with new people, and sharing hot news and photos with people you know all over the world.

Many of these are very interesting especially when you begin to use any of these networking tools by opening an account there.

The benefits discussed above are very clear but people tend to overlook the fact that some of these sites could also have some disadvantages. The very first one that comes to mind is that they deprive you of privacy if they are not handled with care and very wisely. In order to protect self from very bad experiences while using the social networking sites; one need to follow these given guidelines.

For purposes of protecting your privacy, desist from adding just any person you barely know to your list. It is true that social networking can go out of hand sometimes. This can easily happen if you keep adding people who are barely known to you in real life to your list.

For those who do not mind socializing with all and sundry, it would be fine, but this can go out of hand if new people you hardly know can keep interfering with what is entered in your status. That is why in order to avoid such people, it is reasonable that you do not allow any addition to your list of anyone barely known.
Another factor is that you do not cover too much detail. You would assume that most people like to see the things you say about you every time you update your status, but this might just be the opposite as some people get annoyed instead.

If you do not wish to be deleted by others from their networks, it is better to moderate your behavior by putting only one or two updates at reasonable intervals. This will prevent you from interfering with other people's space.
